Job Overview

We are seeking a Part-Time Registered Respiratory Therapist III (RT III) for Weekend Night Shifts.

This role supports complex, high-acuity patient populations in critical care areas and requires advanced clinical expertise, independent decision-making, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist III (RT III) is responsible for medication administration and the implementation of respiratory care using expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate-and-treat process.

The RT III delivers care to complex patients with multiple clinical problems, primarily in critical care environments, and performs protocol-driven ventilator management with significant autonomy.

In addition to direct patient care, the RT III provides patient and family education, coordinates care activities, supports staff development, and participates in professional and self-development initiatives.

Care delivery is performed with an understanding of population-specific needs, including biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational considerations.

The RT III also participates in the education and onboarding of new employees and students.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Customer Service


* Completes patient care, documentation, and education


* Utilizes a team-based approach to service delivery


* Promotes a positive, professional work environment


* Provides support to students and staff

Quality Patient Care


* Performs patient assessments and therapy evaluations


* Collaborates with physicians and healthcare team members in care planning


* Verifies orders and administers aerosolized medications, bronchial hygiene therapy, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy


* Performs ventilator management and weaning, including waveform graphic interpretation


* Performs airway management, including intubation, extubation, tracheostomy tube changes, and care


* Performs arterial blood gas sampling and analysis


* Educates patients and precepts or mentors employees, students, and peers


* Location-specific duties may include assisting with invasive and non-invasive procedures, Cardiac Services procedures, and Pulmonary Diagnostic Testing

Safe & Quality Environment


* Maintains accurate electronic orders, documentation, and charging


* Promotes patient safety, medication safety, and National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG)


* Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives


* Promotes evidence-based practice


* Reviews revised and newly issued Departmental Policies and Procedures (DPPs)

Required Minimum Education


* Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC or CAAHEP) with a minimum of 20 quarter hours of science – Required
