Job Overview

A Major Acute-Care Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT II) with NICU experience to join the night shift team.

This role supports complex neonatal and critical care patients and offers a high level of autonomy, advanced clinical practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Shift Details

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Excellence


* Deliver advanced respiratory care to neonatal and critical care patients


* Perform comprehensive patient assessments and evaluate therapy needs


* Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and medical gases


* Manage ventilators, including weaning, waveform interpretation, and protocol-driven care


* Perform airway management procedures (intubation support, extubation, trach care)


* Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases

NICU & Critical Care Support


* Provide respiratory support for neonatal patients, including NRP-based interventions


* Assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures


* Support cardiac services and pulmonary diagnostic testing (location-specific)

Education & Collaboration


* Educate patients, families, and support systems


* Precept and mentor new respiratory therapists, students, and peers


* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams

Quality, Safety & Compliance


* Maintain accurate electronic documentation, orders, and charges


* Promote patient safety, medication safety, and National Patient Safety Goals


* Support performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice


* Comply with all policies, standards, and professional guidelines

Qualifications

Education


* Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC or CAAHEP) – required


* Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy – required


* Bachelor’s Degree – preferred

Experience


* 0–2 years of clinical experience


* Minimum 6 months critical care experience – required


* NICU experience – required

Licensure & Certifications (Required)


* Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)


* Georgia Respiratory Care Professional License


* Basic Life Support (BLS)


* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)


* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)


* Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
