Job description:

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the Maintenance Tech position is to assist the maintenance department with the general upkeep and appearance of the facility to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position.

* Participates in setting maintenance standards.


* Performing light repairs.


* Performing assisting skilled staff when needed.


* Ensure seasonal tasks are completed (i.e.

mowing the grass, shoveling sidewalks)


* Assist with moving of furniture, handling equipment.


* Reporting any issue that require further attention to the Maintenance Supervisor.


* Ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment used in the handling of infectious materials is available and easily accessible to maintenance personnel.


* Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.


* Label or tag equipment contaminated with blood or other infectious materials prior to sending for repair or decontamination.

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Must have, as a minimum, one year of experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.

• Must provide evidence of being free of tuberculosis infection upon hire and as set forth by the policies of the facility.

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

• Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action.

• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

• Ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of work areas; must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for order, safety, and proper performance of equipment.

• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


* Works throughout the facility (i.e.

resident rooms, therapy rooms, etc.).


* Moves intermittently during working hours.


* Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule maintenance activities.


* Interacts with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
