Park Ranger I/II - Parks

The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County.

A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies.

The County of Riverside's Regional Park and Open-Space District has an opportunity for a Park Ranger I/II based out of the Natural Resources Management office located at Hidden Valley Wildlife Area (Riverside).

This position will involve working on lands conserved by the county as part of its Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan (MSHCP).

The Park Ranger I/II will be responsible for assisting in professional and technical tasks related to Reserve operations, which include monitoring and patrolling the Reserve, assisting with fence installation and maintenance, participating in habitat restoration initiatives, and supporting trash cleanup efforts to preserve natural resources; as well as performing additional related tasks as required.

The department seeks candidates who possess:



* Park operations experience in a Park Ranger, Park Attendant or Park Maintenance or similar position.


* Diffusing potentially difficult situations and providing support to law enforcement and fire officials where necessary.


* Experience interacting with a wide range of individuals, including the unsheltered and unhoused, in potentially difficult situations.


* The ability to operate small to heavy equipment from weed trimmers to large tractors.


* Knowledge of safe herbicide application practices.


* Familiarity with Microsoft Office and GIS applications.


* The ability to work independently in rural and remote areas.


* Knowledge of native vegetation in conservation areas

Work Schedule: 9/80 schedule from 7:00 am- 4:30 pm Sunday through Thursdayo with every other Thursday off.

( Shifts may rotate based on departmental needs, and employees will also be required to work evenings and holidays.)

Incumbents are expected to progress to the Park Ranger II level upon meeting the minimum qualifications for the higher level and satisfactory job performance.

The level at which the position will be filled is at the Department's discretion and contingent on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
