Software Engineer III - Frontend/React

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial and Investment Bank, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.
You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
* Designs, develops, and deploys modern, responsive web applications using React and TypeScript, ensuring exceptional user experience, performance, and accessibility
* Architects and implements scalable front-end solutions with a focus on component-driven development, state management, and reusable UI libraries
* Creates secure, high-quality production code following best practices for React design patterns, including hooks, context API, and modern rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, CSR)
* Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex front-end applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints, performance benchmarks, and accessibility standards are met
* Collaborates closely with UX/UI designers and back-end engineers to translate designs into pixel-perfect, interactive interfaces and integrate RESTful/GraphQL APIs
* Proactively identifies performance bottlenecks, hidden problems, and patterns in application metrics, using these insights to drive improvements to front-end architecture and code quality
* Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies, including modern front-end frameworks and AI-assisted tooling
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 3+ years of applied experience
* Hands-on experience with React including functional components, hooks, context API, and modern React patterns
* Proficiency in TypeScript with a solid understanding of type systems, generics, interfaces, and advanced typing patterns
* Experience with state management solutions such as Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, Recoil, or React Query
* Solid understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+), including async/await, destructuring, modules, and functional programming concepts
* Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and modern styling approaches including CSS-in-JS (Styled Components, Emotion), Sass/SCSS, or Tailwind CSS
* Experience with front-end build tools and bundlers such as Webpack, Vite, or esbuild
* Hands-on experience with testing frameworks including Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress or Playwright for end-to-end testing
* Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
