TEMP 6 - TEMPORARY SAFETY COORDINATOR
Starting Hourly Rate: $18.68,
Work Schedule: 20-40 hours a week, flexible hours available between Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
(This is a temporary position and can work from the beginning of June to the end of August 2026)
Nature of Work:
* Provide support to the City of Ann Arbor Safety Manager and Safety Unit in the coordination, implementation, and support of the occupational safety and health programs and projects.
* Assist with and support the creation and development of safety policies and initiatives.
* Support safety and health training objectives.
* Participate in on-site safety and health inspections.
* Assist with the identification of safety and health goals and objectives and provide support for the development of corrective action processes.
* Develop and prepare incident reports, near miss reports, and hazard assessment reports.
* Coordinate, attend, and participate in safety meetings.
* Participate in the implementation of personal protective equipment programs and training, and with unit safety personnel on a wide-range of safety and health related topics and initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
* High School diploma or GED Equivalent
* Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s and/or master’s occupational safety and health program or have earned a bachelor’s and/or master’s occupational safety and health program degree
* Valid Driver’s License
* Must have strong working knowledge of State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health management, including OSHA and MIOSHA standards.
* Strong writing and editing skills required.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and accuracy
* Demonstrate outstanding customer service
* Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet critical deadlines in a timely and accurate manner
* Must be organized and schedule work effectively while working under limited supervision
* Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
* Must have experience working with computers and software applications used in business settings (e.g., MS Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
