Position Overview

Launch your career with a paid summer internship at Salinas Valley Health, an award-winning 263-bed acute care hospital serving Monterey County.

Epic is the Electronic Medical Record at the Medical Center and the Ambulatory Clinics.

In this internship you will see the innerworkings of the Epic Department, Information Technology and collaboration with all departments within the Medical Center.

Tasks will consist of workque management, training assistance, shadowing workflows, Technical Dress Rehearsals, administrative help (Microsoft Excel) and assisting with optimization projects of the system, including but not limited to system upgrades, AI optimizations, new 3rd party applications, Etc.

Primary Responsibilities


* Assist with Epic workqueue management and tracking


* Support training activities and workflow guidance for staff


* Shadow and document clinical and operational workflows


* Participate in Technical Dress Rehearsals (TDRs)


* Provide administrative support using Microsoft Excel


* Assist with system optimization, upgrades, and new applications


* Collaborate with IT and departments to improve system efficiency

Program Eligibility


* Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program


* Preference given to Junior and Senior-level students


* Must be available to participate in at least 8 weeks of the 10-week program


* Interns will be matched with projects based on their academic field of study

Work Schedule


* Up to 30 hours per week


* Internship duration: 8-10 consecutive weeks


* Schedule: Monday - Friday, based on organizational needs
