Ecological Intern

Ardurra is seeking an Ecological Intern to join our team in Tampa, Florida!

As an Ecological Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting a wide range of projects across Florida and the Southeast Region.  

This internship is designed to give you exposure to real world ecological services work, build your technical skills, and help you explore a future career in the Ecological consulting industry. 

Primary Function: 

Under the direct supervision of senior ecologists, the Ecological Intern will support ecological and environmental projects by assisting with field investigations, data collection, report preparation, and environmental permitting efforts.

This role is designed to provide a handson learning experience while applying standard ecological and environmental science principles, techniques, and procedures in support of project teams. 

Primary Duties: 


* Assist with ecological field investigations, including wetlands delineations, protected species observations, and natural habitat assessments 


* Collect, document, and organize field data, including preparing and transcribing field notes 


* Support the preparation of technical memorandums, reports, and documentation related to environmental impacts, biological evaluations, and regulatory compliance 


* Assist with upland and wetland evaluations and Environmental Assessments, including work related to protected species 


* Help review project documentation and drawings within defined limits 


* Perform basic GIS/GPS data collection and assist with processing field data (as applicable) 


* Provide general project support and complete miscellaneous tasks to assist the environmental and ecological project teams 


* Work collaboratively with project managers, ecologists, and engineers to support ongoing projects

 Education and Experience Requirements 


* Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in environmental science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, Physical Sciences, or a related field 


* 0–1 years of relevant experience (prior internship or project experience preferred but not required). 


* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks 


* Ability to work in outdoor and sometimes challenging field conditions 


* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 


* Team‑oriented, self‑motivated, and eager to learn 


* Coursework or basic knowledge related to wetlands, protected species, or environmental permitting 


* Familiarity with GIS/GPS tools for field or office use is a plus
