Dietary Cook

Job Opening: Dietary Cook (Full-Time, AM Shift)

Location: Central Gardens Post Acute
Starting Rate: $20 per hour
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package available

General Purpose:

The primary responsibility of the cook is to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.

He/she will report directly to the Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties:



* Maintain a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area.


* Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.


* Follow prepared menus and portion control guides accurately.


* Prepare special diets as needed and ensure food meets dietary requirements.


* Record food temperatures for meals served.


* Prepare pureed foods.


* Collaborate and work harmoniously with personnel in all departments.


* Maintain quaternary solution in sanitizer buckets.


* Assist with serving meals and cleaning cooking areas and serving carts.


* Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nurses.


* Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.


* Present food attractively to residents.


* Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor and ensure all cleaning schedules are followed.
