$16 hourly/ 45 hours (7 weeks) Summer Program

June 2nd- July 17th

Essential Duties:

Skills


* Able to speak in front of a group of people.


* Able to keep accurate records.


* Respectful of campers' privacy regarding health-related matters.


* Interact well with people of all ages; from youth to older adults.

Responsibilities and Duties


* Lead the high school students (counselors) to effectively implement the camp curriculum and activities.


* Be responsible for 3-4 teams of 10-12 campers each.


* Attend camp staff orientation, and all group and camp wide activities and events.


* Implement the camp program.


* Participate in all group and camp wide activities.


* Supervise all group activities.


* Be responsible for keeping track of group lists and activity schedules.


* Supervise each team to ensure that health and safety remain a priority.


* Evaluate progress of the individuals in the group and the group as a whole.


* Initiate and maintain a sound working relationship with other camp personnel.


* Eat meals with campers and encourage healthy eating and exercise habits.


* Cheerfully comply with unanticipated assignments and remain flexible for contingency plans

Education/Experience:

High school or general education diploma (GED) and 1 year of college.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence.

Fluent in English; Spanish bilingual preferred.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply understanding and carry out instructions.

Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Certificates and Licenses:

N/A

Computer Skills:

Demonstrates working knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel applications.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to a community center environment having direct contact with program participants in indoor & outdoor settings.

Position necessitates bending, stooping, twisting, turning, walking, climbing step stools, sitting and standing for periods of time.

Must be able to lift and maneuver 25 pounds.
