Process Engineer (Heat Treat Process Owner)

Basic Qualifications:


* B.S.

in Materials Science, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, Ceramic, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.


* Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:


* Experience in Investment Casting.


* Knowledge of vacuum systems, PLC, vacuum heat treat furnaces


* Knowledge of MS Office, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organization skills.


* Working knowledge of statistical analysis and SPC


* Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Howmet Process Management a plus.


* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

JOB SUMMARY

Position will be responsible for:


* Ensuring the Heat Treat processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials and equipment specifications as required for NADCAP Certification and as detailed in the BU Heat Treat manual, business operation, and customer requirements.


* Approve all new and revised instructions in the Heat Treat area.


* Responsible for determination of the root cause of any deviation from critical process specifications and provide technical support to Process Engineering to resolve Heat Treat related issues.


* Responsible for reporting the critical process status on daily and monthly basis to the Heat Treat Business Unit Process Owner.


* Responsible for understanding downstream product quality as it relates to Heat Treat and react appropriately to observed conditions.


* Institute proper project monitoring, follow up and feedback system to ensure financial and contract targets are met (yields, rework).


* Foster continuous improvement utilizing process management designed experiments, IPM and SPC, Cpk.


* Demonstrates considerable ingenuity and creativity while recognizing prudent risk.


* As a recognized expert in the Heat Treat process technology area, provide technical guidance to management and peers in areas of current or potential needs of the plant.
