Enforcement Division Sergeant Test Announcement 2026

The Weber County Sheriff's Office will be conducting an open recruitment process to create a new Sergeant register for the Enforcement Division.

The register will remain in effect for up to one year from the date of creation or until it is replaced by a new register at the discretion of the Sheriff.

Individuals interested in participating in the testing process must submit a letter of interest, resume, and other appropriate documentation in pdf format by April 10 th at 1700 hours.

Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in the process, an individual must meet the below-listed work experience requirements.

The individual must also be in good standing with Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), with no pending or active disciplinary action affecting certification status.

Experience:

Six years of working experience as a sworn Law Enforcement Officer.

OR

Four years of working experience as a sworn Law Enforcement Officer and currently holding a supervisory rank.

Temporary duties or Officer in Charge time will not be counted toward this requirement.

Service as a Law Enforcement Officer with any law enforcement agency will be counted.

Service must be in a sworn law enforcement capacity with primary duties involving enforcement of criminal laws.

Corrections, detention, probation or security roles will not count towards this category.

Testing Process

The process will consist of 3 phases.

Phase 1- Panel interview - evaluates leadership, judgment, and communication

Phase 2- Written exam - evaluates legal knowledge and comprehension

Phase 3- In-basket - evaluates decision-making, prioritization, and supervisory ability
