PERSONNEL STATUS: Seasonal
This position is seasonal with up to 40 hours a week for up to 6 months, no benefits.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the close supervision of a Weed Control Supervisor, performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled work in the operation of light equipment, machinery, and tools used in weed eradication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identify and assess noxious weed sites to determine appropriate control options.
Check and service assigned equipment; perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs; report mechanical problems for shop repairs.
Operate a variety of mowing equipment in the maintenance of county roads and other facilities.
Apply pesticides in a safe and effective manner considering all risk and environmental factors in accordance with all State, Federal, and local regulations and label requirements.
Perform required manual labor involved in weed control and eradication such as loading and unloading trucks, cutting trees and brush, manually removing noxious weeds by hand pulling, using chainsaws, pruners, and other hand tools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
Knowledge of: Some knowledge of weed eradication and requirements; some knowledge of equipment operating principles and practices.
Some knowledge of the common hazards and safety precautions relating to pesticides and herbicides.
Knowledge of department policies.
Knowledge of the boundaries of Weber County.
Knowledge of the safety measures required while working with various tools on the job.
Skills and Abilities to: Skilled in the operation of assigned equipment.
Ability to operate assigned equipment under varying conditions.
Ability to perform minor equipment maintenance and repair.
Ability to learn and follow standard safety practices and procedures common to weed control work.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
Ability to operate motorized vehicles and equipment, including road-side lawnmower, side-by-side, weed truck, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, weed eaters, chainsaws, mobile and portable radio, and phone.
YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
Must have a valid Driver's License.
