RN Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Critical Care RN — Night Shift
This night‑shift Critical Care RN provides high‑quality, individualized care to patients with complex and acute needs as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The nurse uses the full nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to deliver safe, evidence‑based care while advocating for patient safety and optimal outcomes.
The role requires strong critical thinking, collaboration, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
• Deliver individualized, evidence‑based care using the full nursing process
• Apply analytical and critical‑thinking skills to support optimal patient outcomes
• Provide culturally sensitive, relationship‑based care
• Partner with patients and families through communication, education, and shared decision‑making
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation
Teamwork & Collaboration
• Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in rounds, case reviews, and shared governance
• Support a respectful, inclusive clinical environment
• Contribute to quality improvement and patient‑safety initiatives
Professional Development
• Complete required education and competency assessments
• Serve as a mentor or preceptor to support the development of other nurses and students
• Engage in ongoing learning, research utilization, and evidence‑based practice
Quality, Safety & Resource Management
• Follow organizational policies, regulatory standards, and ethical nursing practice
• Participate in developing protocols to improve outcomes and reduce adverse events
• Use resources efficiently and support safe, high‑quality care
Qualifications
* ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor or ACLS-P - ACLS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
* BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
* RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience
• Skills: Strong communication, critical thinking, time management, and computer proficiency; ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, high‑acuity settings
