Port Manager
SUMMARY
Manages the overall port operation, which includes receipt, vessel off-loading scheme, vehicle survey and inspection, inventory management, daily processing production, scheduling, carrier release, rail operations, and regional/logistics interface.
In some port locations, requires the management of export vehicles.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manages daily processing requirements ensuring vehicles are accessorized correctly, quality checks are completed, and vehicles are released to carriers on a timely basis.
* Manages facility operations with collaboration from the port processor.
Key activities are vessel discharges and purification, maintaining a consistent workforce to support production volumes, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) when processing and accessorizing vehicles, maintaining a safe work environment, and implementing corrective action to address issues.
* Effectively communicates Subaru of America's (SOA's) shipping schedules to the various service providers that support SOA's business at the port.
* Establishes daily communications with port processor and rail/truck carriers covering issues, productions plans, process improvement proposals, and workforce planning.
Daily communications would be with local support teams.
Escalation to upper management may be required to prioritize issues.
* Manages accessory and parts ordering and daily inventory requirements to support daily volumes, eliminating any delays in vehicle processing.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Maintains familiarity with monroney label printer and information technology (IT) requirements at port.
* Understands Customs documentation and requirements.
* Maintains familiarity with skilled (longshoremen and teamster) labor rules and agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Highly motivated and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Keen negotiation skills in a waterfront (port) environment.
* Understanding of or ability to quickly learn Subaru of America (SOA) Oracle Systems that support port operations for parts, vehicle processing, and billing
* Ability to be available on a 24/7 basis.
* Ability to multi-task.
* Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable per Risk Management guidelines.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or other equivalent experience in port operations and vehicle processing with at least 8-10 years experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT
* Travel Requirements: 10% domestic
* Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 20+ lbs.
* Port Location: Vancouver, WA 98660
COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $94000-130000 / year.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
