Intern - Electrical Engineering

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


* Assist Facilities Engineering with electrical infrastructure projects, including power distribution, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.


* Support project planning and coordination, including tracking schedules, budgets, and project documentation.


* Assist in reviewing electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications for facility systems.


* Participate in site walkdowns and inspections to document electrical systems (switchgear, transformers, substations, backup power, etc.) and identify improvement opportunities.


* Help collect and analyze data related to energy usage, electrical loads, and facility system performance.


* Work with engineers and contractors to support project execution, commissioning, and system testing.


* Assist with updating engineering documentation, maintenance records, and project reports


* Prepare a final internship presentation or report summarizing project contributions and key learnings.

Education & Experience


* Education Level Required: Bachelor's or Master's


* If bachelor's candidate should be a rising Junior (completed 2 years by start)


* Majors: Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline


* Relevant coursework power systems, electrical design, energy systems, or industrial electrical systems is strongly desired.

Skills & Other Requirements


* Excellent written and verbal communication.


* Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.


* Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.


* Attention to detail and time management.


* Familiarity with electrical power systems and facility infrastructure.


* Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical drawing review is a plus.


* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and project tracking tools preferred.


* Internship Duration: 10 - 14 weeks.

* This role will be based on-site in Sherman, TX


* Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.


* Work will involve time spent in facilities areas, mechanical rooms, or construction zones supporting engineering projects.
