Principal Engineer, Epitaxy
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
* Interaction with design/product teams to plan and execute MOCVD growths aimed at realizing next generation and newly conceived epitaxial designs and structures.
* Develop and execute DOE's to define and optimize MOCVD process windows.
Areas of improvement include capability, yield, throughput, and/or costs.
* Work with Equipment Engineers to help identify and design reactor hardware modifications or MOCVD process changes as needed in support of new process development.
* Presentation of development results and assigned manufacturing-based metrics to senior management, to internal interdisciplinary based teams, and to external customers.
* Apply engineering and manufacturing principles to transition epi designs from development to pilot production.
Support parametric analysis as needed for yield/performance issues.
Education & Experience
* Masters degree or higher in engineering, physics, or chemistry, and 5+ years of related experience.
* Experience with Quality Management System
* Solid State Device Physics background in Optoelectronic devices required
* 5-10 years of epitaxial growth in a production environment preferred
* Experience under ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System
* Experience with SPC, Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing
* Experience with statistical software packages
* Proficient with MS Office Software
* Knowledge of SQL preferred
* Excellent communication skills required
Skills
* Familiarity with SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, MSA and other aspects of manufacturing and data analysis.
JMP experience a plus
* Ability to communicate and present complex technical concepts and results to multidisciplinary teams
* Background in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, electronic engineering preferred but not essential.
Working Conditions
* Working conditions are normal for an office environment and non-climate controlled manufacturing facility
* Must be able to travel domestically 5% of the time and internationally 5% of the time.
Physical Requirements
* Able to wear clean room attire for a Class 100/1000 clean room.
* Able to stand for 5 hours a day.
