Intern - Equipment Technology Development
Job Summary
The Equipment, Technology and Maintenance (ETM) group is seeking a motivated Summer Engineering Intern to support a wide range of production areas across our campus.
ETM plays a key role in maintaining, improving, and supporting equipment used in material growth, optical fabrication, thin-film coatings, and quality assurance.
This internship is ideal for a student who enjoys hands-on engineering work and wants exposure to a broad cross-section of technologies, processes, and production equipment.
We will mentor and support you every step of the way.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
* Assemble and test optical measuring systems.
* Assemble.
wire and test electrical control panels.
* Support general engineering, maintenance and equipment improvement initiatives as assigned.
* Enter equipment and maintenance data into computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
Education & Experience
* Completion of a minimum of two years towards a bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
* Familiarity with wiring diagrams, schematics, or lab equipment.
* Experience with basic hand tools, test equipment, or assembly work.
* Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Lt.
or Autodesk Inventor is a plus.

* Internship Duration: 10 - 14 weeks.

Working Conditions
* This role will be based on-site in Saxonburg PA.
* Working environments include clean rooms, maintenance workshops and production areas.
* PPE, including safety glasses, lab coats and gloves are required in some areas.
PPE and training will be provided.
Physical Requirements
* Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or at a bench.
* Find motor skills for working with small components, wiring, and precision assemblies.
* Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 50 pounds for administrative tasks.
* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
