Job Summary

Collaborate with leadership in the oversight of a portfolio of real estate assets acquired by the department.

Monitor contracts for property maintenance, consultants, demolition, construction, and other activities.

Oversee routine maintenance and the security of all assets and serve as primary point of contact for properties under assignment.

Evaluate properties and assist in planning for potential acquisitions and subsequent redevelopment.

Minimum Qualifications


* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and


* Three (3) years in managing distressed properties, real estate assets or directly related experience or


* An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.


* Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance is required.

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.

Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.

*Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



* Knowledge of building codes, procurement policies, regulations, and community development in the Chicago metropolitan area and knowledge of assets compared to the competition in terms of pricing, location, amenities, and unit finishes.


* Knowledge in Microsoft office suite and property management software.


* Ability to travel at a moderate to extensive level to work assignments for which the employee may be required to provide his/her own adequate means of transportation.


* Ability to independently plan site visits, water meter reads, point of sale inspections accordingly in area of specialization to meet organizational goals


* Ability to provide in-depth insight, advice and expertise to other professionals, management, and external contacts in an assigned functional area.
