Lead Construction Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager (Field Based)
ERM is hiring a Lead Construction Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager to provide on-site support for our key pharmaceutical client in Kenosha, WI.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading an HSE safety team for construction activities, engaging with project and construction leaders, and ensuring health and safety, and supporting environmental stewardship and compliance with applicable regulations and existing company standards.
Acting on behalf of the client, this role provides owner‑side HSE leadership across Construction Management (CM), design‑build teams, and contractors, ensuring health, safety, and environmental risks are anticipated, controls are implemented effectively, and compliance obligations are consistently met through a combination of visible field presence and strong leadership influence.
You will be present during all site activities and responsible for all HSE activities, and support the delegation of duties to other project team members.
This is a full-time (40+ hours/week), limited-term role for a duration of 12 months, renewable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Serve as the Site Lead for ERM’s HSE owner’s representative team, working directly with the Client’s Project Leaders.
* Meet with Client Project Lead monthly to review timelines, metrics, and as needed proactive adjustments
* Guide implementation, and continuous improvement of the HSE management system on a pharmaceutical megaproject
* Act as the primary interface between our Client’s Project Leadership, EPC Project Leadership, and ERM’s PMO.
* Develop, track, and communicate environmental performance metrics, trends, and key risks to project and executive leadership.
* Responsible for preparing and delivering daily briefings and compiling comprehensive weekly updates for leadership, to support strategic decision making.
* Participate in Project Leadership Meetings, as the Client’s HSE representative.
* Provide daily direction, prioritization, and coaching to a team of HSE Managers and specialists, coordinating the Client’s Safety Program. Continuously monitor and adjust team structure and resource allocation in accordance with project needs and budget constraints.
* Establish and maintain a clear, project‑specific environmental compliance framework that defines requirements, roles, and interfaces to guide CM and contractor execution.
* Maintain strong field presence to validate that environmental controls, practices, and behaviors align with approved plans and permit obligations.
* Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations, promoting accountability and collaboration within the Client HSE Team.
* Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for all HSE matters, advising Client and Contractor HSE, Project Managers, and functional heads, ensuring alignment with Client and project requirements.
