Intern - Lean Manufacturing

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lean Manufacturing Intern to join our Silicon Carbide (SiC) manufacturing team for Summer 2026.

The perfect candidate will support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing site.

This role will focus on analyzing production processes and assisting with the implementation of Lean principles to improve efficiency, organization, and productivity.

Key responsibilities include conducting process time studies and motion studies to identify inefficiencies, supporting the implementation of 5S in production areas, and helping document and standardize improved workflows.

The intern will also assist in establishing a Lean Steering Committee framework, including meeting structures, metrics, and reporting processes.

Working closely with operations and engineering teams, the intern will help drive elements of the site's Lean roadmap, contributing to projects that improve throughput, reduce waste, and strengthen operational discipline.

This role is ideal for a student pursuing Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field with an interest in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


* Process time studies


* Motion studies


* Implementing 5S in production areas


* Documenting improved workflows


* Collaborating with shop floor workers, technicians and engineers.


* Expected to document progress with weekly reports as well as a final presentation at the end of the assignment.

Education & Experience


* Education Level Required: Bachelor's / Master's


* \"Must have completed a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate study (rising junior or above) by the start of the internship\"


* Majors: Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management


* Relevant coursework or extracurricular experience in Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.


* Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.

* Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.


* Attention to detail and time management.
