Assembler II - Sheet Metal Kitting - 1st Shift

Position Summary

A skilled shop hourly position responsible for efficient coordination and execution of sheet metal kitting activities.

The Sheet Metal Kit Assembler 2 works independently in most functions, demonstrates strong knowledge of plant scheduling and material flow, and supports junior team members.

Principal Accountabilities

· Plan and coordinate flow of sheet metal materials to support production schedules.

· Perform timely and accurate kitting of complex assemblies.

· Identify kit shortages and coordinate resolution with Purchasing or Supply Chain.

· Safely operated material handling equipment including pallet jacks and walkies.

· Meet or exceed daily production and quality goals.

· Support scrap reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Maintain and sustain 5S standards.

· Train and assist junior mechanics as assigned.

· Ensure compliance with ISO procedures and standard work.

· Support sustainability efforts and waste reduction.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

· Thorough understanding of Supply Chain Kitting Process.

· Working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management.

· Good overall knowledge of BAC products and sheet metal components.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Understanding of LEAN principles (5S, Lean, one-piece flow).

· Minimum 1 year of material handling, supply chain, or sheet metal experience preferred.

· Competent in basic math including fractions and decimal conversions.

· Ability to use handheld measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, protractor).

· Ability to read blueprints and reference drawings (basic level).

· Basic computer skills for data entry and locating instructions.

· Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality standards.

 

Working Conditions

· Standing up to 80% of shift.

· Lifting up to 50 lbs.

· Operation of powered industrial equipment.

· Exposure to noise and temperature fluctuations.

· Any shift; overtime as required.
