About You


* A B.S.

in Civil or Transportation Engineering


* At least 5 years of experience in traffic engineering and/or traffic planning projects, with DOT experience strongly desired


* Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure, required


* Experience planning, scheduling, coordinating, and conducting transportation and traffic engineering work


* Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques applied in traffic and transportation projects


* Skilled in explaining, persuading, and negotiating critical project issues


* Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships


* Proficiency in Synchro, Excel, and OpenRoads; knowledge of HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, ArcGIS, CUBE, and TransCAD is desirable


* Strong understanding of and experience using HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, and DOT's Policies and Procedures, including DOT policy manuals or similar documents

About the Role

As a Traffic Engineer, you will:


* Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate transportation engineering work, including traffic impact analyses, traffic forecasting studies, roundabout feasibility studies, parking studies, signal timing studies, access management studies, intersection safety analyses, operational studies, and corridor studies


* Prepare engineering reports, plans, and specifications for major projects


* Produce engineering drawings based on applicable traffic industry calculations; check, interpret, and revise engineering drawings


* Prepare and review project plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates


* Prepare informational materials (e.g., project fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations) to communicate projects clearly to stakeholders and the public


* Supervise less experienced engineers and technical support personnel within a project team


* Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff
