Medication Aide

Shifts: Full-time - Night Shift (6pm - 6am)

The Medication Aide / Tech administers routine medications and documents administration per policy while supporting resident care and reporting concerns to nursing leadership.

Responsibilities:


* Verify ID of resident prior to medication administration


* Administer medications per physician order and document it was given.


* Report to Team Leader any errors, refusal or reactions to medications immediately.


* Report to Team Leader and complete medication error incident report when there is an error in the administration of medications.


* Ensure medications are properly labeled and stored according to medication instructions.


* Ensure medications are reordered when necessary and destroyed as indicated.


* Complete proper medication destruction.

Narcotics should be destroyed with Med Tech and LPN/RN witnessed and cosigned.

Non narcotics should be destroyed by Med Tech or LPN


* Report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Team Leader.


* Attend and participate in care plan meetings as necessary.


* Accurately and sagely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this Community and that may be ordered for resident use by the physician or the Medical Director.


* Perform as Caregiver/CNA when not passing medications.


* Ensure that an adequate supply of floor medications is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents.

Reorder as needed.


* Report needs for supplies and/or equipment to Resident Care Coordinator.


* Complete Ovation, Relias and Inservice training as required by Ovation and State Law.
