Assistant Manager - Beef Research

This role requires to be on-site at our Gray Summit, MO facility and does NOT offer relocation assistance.

As the Beef Research Assistant Manager, this position will be required to:


* Assist in development, implementation and supervision of work schedules for Beef Unit employees


* Supervises ongoing and training of data collection to ensure accurate information is collected according to study protocol which is critical to New Product Development


* Participate in planning and organizing appropriate development programs for beef unit staff


* Participate in the selection and hiring process of new employees.

Provide orientation for new employees within the Beef unit


* Performs reviews and PCP reviews with Beef Unit employees


* Participate in the preparation and control of Beef Research budget.


* Prepare and order equipment and supplies as needed in the unit.


* Assist in planning of remodels, construction and repairs for the Beef Unit.


* Proficient at public speaking to small and large groups detailing the Purina Beef Research process, capabilities, how specific Purina Products are managed and the economic value of these products by cattlemen.


* Performs the responsibility for completing and maintaining compliance for all company required safety and EHS training for the beef unit and unit employees.

Complete yearly safety Audit and monthly EHS requirements.


* Performs the duties of the Department Manager in his/her absence

Requirements:


* BS degree in Agriculture is strongly preferred.

Individuals with commensurate experience in a managerial role will be considered.


* Livestock experience with the ability to recognize abnormalities in cattle.

Able to work with and handle cattle in a calm safe manner.

Ability to lift 50 pounds, run equipment, and due routine jobs within the department when needed.


* Able to work with others in a positive manner.

Can communicate thoughts and requirements easily for others to understand.

Is able to work through problems for the benefit of all.


* Work hours will be Monday - Friday, typically 7 am -3:30 pm.

At times hours vary due to weather and research activities.

Occasionally will have to fill in on weekends and holidays as needed.

The salary range for this role is $53,440 - $80,160.

In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
