Intern, Optical Fabrication Engineering

Job Summary


* We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optical Fabrication Engineering Intern to join our team for Summer 2026.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience through learning some of the many processes throughout this production area and then update/create WI's.

You will work alongside industry professionals and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


* Logically minded and good mechanical problem-solving skills


* Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills


* Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude


* Assist engineering staff with daily projects and duties


* Support department 5S initiatives

Education & Experience


* Minimum of 1 year of course work completed from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science or other applicable college programs.

Skills & Other Requirements


* Excellent written and verbal communication.


* Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.


* Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.


* Attention to detail and time management.


* Internship Duration: 10 - 14 weeks.

Working Conditions


* This role will be based on-site in Saxonburg, PA.


* Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.


* Some manufacturing areas within the department can be noisy, dirty and require working with hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements


* Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.


* Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.


* Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.


* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
