Civil Design Engineer

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.

Job Description Summary:
The Civil Design Engineer will be responsible for producing in-house civil designs.

This role is hybrid, with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA.

Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:


* Civil Design Support
+ Assist senior engineers in preparing site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management plans, erosion control plans, and other civil engineering design elements for utility-scale solar projects.
+ Conduct site due diligence research, analyze topographic data, and perform basic engineering calculations to support design development.
+ The primary focus will be developing 30% designs to service as the basis for our business development and estimating efforts.



* CAD Drafting
+ Create and modify detailed civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.


* Code and Regulatory Research
+ Research and stay current on local, state, and federal civil engineering and solar development regulations.


* Project Collaboration
+ Participate in design reviews and collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines and project teams.


* Documentation and Reporting
+ Assist in the preparation of technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
+ Maintenance of accurate project documentation, including design revision/iteration history.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:


* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.


* EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or on track to obtain it.


* Demonstrated proficiency in civil design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, PVsyst, or similar).


* Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, including hydrology, grading, and stormwater management.


* Basic knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices


* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


* Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.


* Commitment to safety


* Strong sense of urgency
