Apparel Senior Product Designer & Developer
Position Summary:
Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and sourcing of complex Private Lable apparel.
Negotiate costing of Private Label internationally sourced merchandise Role model and demonstrate the Companys core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of self and others.
Desired Previous Job Experience:
* Masters Degree in Fashion Design/Merchandising or related discipline
* 2+ years product development experience in Retail environment
* 4+ years in one of the following development industry categories: Apparel Design, Textile Design, Production Development, Sourcing, Creative Direction, Garment Technology, Pattern Design
Minimum Position Qualifications:
* BA/BS in Fashion Design/Merchandising or related discipline
* 4+ years of product development experience
* 2+ years of fashion buying or planning experience in import driven retail categories demonstrating strong financial performance.
* Understand customs and transportation of product on a global scale
* Ability to travel independently internationally and domestically (
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, internet and email
* Willingness to continue education, as necessary
Essential Job Functions:
* Design by translating inspiration and creative ideas into viable, profitable and marketable product
* Create, establish, maintain and nurture the brand point of view through competitive analysis and attending domestic and international trade fairs
* Assume a lead role in communicating and presenting creative strategies, product concepts, and consumer insights to internal & external audiences
* Establish and manage sample budgets reporting all sample and development expenses as a percentage of total brand category sales
* Create tech packs (include specifications, material breakdown including consumption and duty rates) and commitment sheets providing effective communication between design/development, merchandising and manufacturing
* Review design samples and clearly communicate changes for timely project completion including stitching, cut, and fit specifications
* Review all respective corporate brand and import financial performance assessing the profitability on a season/annual basis
* Attend fit sessions from first prototypes to final approved samples with Color and Fit Specialist; confirm domestic imported product aligns with or standard for Merchant-initiated programs
* Approve production samples and create deadlines on advertising samples for merchandising group
* Review weekly sales and budgeted financial goals each period; discuss and make recommendations via weekly meetings
* Use knowledge of material/fabric specifications and construction to lead price negotiations with overseas sourcing partners and manufactures
