Open Space Educator
The Open Space Educator independently develops and delivers engaging, inclusive environmental education and interpretation programs for diverse audiences.
This role leads public and private programs, partners with schools and youth corps, provides roving interpretation, collaborates across departments, and supports outreach and marketing efforts to connect the community with Colorado's natural landscapes.
This a part-time position working 20-29 hours per week with some weekend work.
Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE:
* Thorough understanding of Colorado local flora, fauna, ecosystems, and natural history.
* Principles of interpretation and environmental education.
* Risk awareness and participant safety in outdoor settings.
SKILL:
* Program development and facilitation for varied age groups and learning styles.
* Public speaking, informal interpretation in outdoor environments, and written communication.
* Development of interpretive and marketing materials using design platforms (e.g., Canva, InDesign, Photoshop)
* Outreach, partnership-building, and basic program marketing.
ABILITIES:
* Work independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate programs.
* Engage diverse communities and adapt programs for different age groups.
* Work effectively outdoors in varied weather and terrain.
* Exercise sound judgement in participant safety and program delivery.
TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional college-level coursework in environmental science, education, natural resources, or related field preferred.
Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years developing and leading nature-based education programs for all ages, preferably in Colorado.
Minimum of one (1) year developing interpretive materials such as flyers, signage, brochures, and social media graphics; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Conduct outreach and promote programs through marketing, and community engagement.
