Electromechanical Component Intern
What will you do?
* In this role, you will support the standardization of electromechanical components across the organization, with a strong focus on connector families such as board-to-board (BTB), board-to-wire (BTW), terminal blocks, and I/O connectors.
Your responsibilities will include:
+ Analyzing, classifying, and documenting electromechanical components to ensure consistent standardization across systems.
+ Supporting the creation, maintenance, and improvement of internal component catalogs and technical databases.
+ Reviewing technical specifications, mechanical characteristics, and relevant documentation from manufacturers.
+ Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Procurement, SQE, and Category Management) to align standards and ensure component accuracy.
+ Preparing clear reports, presentations, and communications to update stakeholders on standardization progress.
+ Supporting continuous improvement activities related to component selection, data quality, and workflow optimization.
+ Helping identify and eliminate duplicated or obsolete components in the system.
What skills and capabilities will make you successful?
* Success in this role is driven by strong analytical, organizational, and communication capabilities.
Key skills include:
+ Organization & attention to detail - essential for managing large quantities of component data and documentation.
+ Clear communication - to effectively coordinate with global teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
+ Technical understanding of electromechanical components, especially connectors and mechanical characteristics.
+ Problem-solving and critical thinking to interpret datasheets and ensure accurate classification.
+ Basic engineering judgment when reviewing mechanical specifications and determining component families.
+ Adaptability and willingness to learn, especially in a fast-paced engineering environment.
+ Proficiency with Excel, PLM tools, and documentation systems (or willingness to quickly learn them).
What's in it for you?
* Growth, Learning, and Opportunities
This internship provides hands-on experience in a core part of the electromechanical supply chain and engineering pipeline.
Benefits include:
+ Practical exposure to electromechanical component classification and standardization.
+ Strengthening your ability to read and interpret datasheets for connectors and mechanical parts.
+ Developing highly transferable skills in organization, documentation, and technical communication.
+ Broad visibility into Procurement, Engineering, and Supplier interactions.
+ Experience with enterprise systems for component management (PLM, catalog tools, internal databases).
+ Mentorship from experienced engineering and category professionals.
