Manufacturing Engineer Intern

Schneider Electric's Global Supply Chain team has an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual to assume the role of Manufacturing Engineer Intern in our Smyrna, TN location, for the Summer.

This will be a full-time on-site position.

No visa sponsorship or relocation will be provided for this role.

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support the Manufacturing Engineering Lead.

This role provides hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, equipment management, process documentation, and continuous improvement within a high-volume production environment.

Key Responsibilities:



* Participate in root cause analysis for issues arising during shutdown or transfer preparation.


* Identify and recommend improvements for efficiency, ergonomics, and layout during decommissioning stages.


* Support 5S activities in areas undergoing equipment removal.


* Support the documentation of process changes, decommissioning steps, and line-shutdown procedures.


* Track and report status of ramp-down milestones, including equipment availability, tooling readiness, and inventory levels.


* Help catalog and verify all equipment, tooling, fixtures, and gages slated for transfer.


* Coordinate with maintenance, logistics, and receiving teams to prepare assets for shipment (tagging, cleaning, crating, and documentation).


* Update asset databases, equipment lists, and plant layout drawings to reflect removed or relocated items.


* Support creation of equipment run-off / buy-off documentation prior to release.


* Update standard work, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and control plans affected by the ramp-down.


* Assist with capturing photos, drawings, and technical notes needed for future re-start or knowledge transfer.


* Support creation of transfer packages including equipment manuals, settings, torque values, and calibration information.

This job might be for you if:


* Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.


* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


* Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with on-floor activities.


* Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and basic CAD (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) preferred.


* Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail.
