Position Summary

Gateway Post Acute is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department in delivering exceptional resident-centered care.

The Director of Nursing is a Registered Nurse responsible for the overall management, supervision, and direction of all nursing services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership


* Oversee and manage the entire nursing department and staffing operations.


* Ensure the highest standards of resident safety, dignity, and quality care.


* Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures.


* Coordinate MDS processes and comprehensive care planning.


* Participate in QA, Utilization Review, and interdisciplinary care conferences.


* Remain current on regulatory changes and ensure facility compliance.


* Lead all state surveys and oversee plans of correction and follow-up.

Team Development & Staffing


* Recruit, hire, train, and mentor nursing staff.


* Supervise the ADON and all nursing personnel directly or indirectly.


* Conduct performance evaluations and manage corrective action when necessary.


* Develop and conduct clinical in-services and ongoing education programs.

Collaboration & Communication


* Serve as liaison between physicians, pharmacy services, families, and facility leadership.


* Coordinate pharmacy services and oversee proper medication management.


* Work closely with all departments to ensure cohesive, high-quality resident care.


* Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and resident information.

Administrative & Financial Oversight


* Manage departmental budgeting and reporting.


* Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on acuity and census.


* Provide direct resident care as needed to support the team and maintain standards.
