Engages in high quality economic research, analysis, and discussions that are used to advise and inform the President and Board of Directors on economic conditions and/or various policy issues.

Maintains consistent, independent research activity, including internal and external publications and presentations.

Promotes the reputation of the Bank as a thought leader through scholarly writings and other professional activities.

Takes leadership role in the process of identifying and instituting improved economic policies.

Provides guidance and thought leadership to the development and promotion of key department and Bank policy objectives.

Informs and enlightens a broader audience of policymakers and interested parties and furthers our knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of economic issues.

Actively participates in the public education mission of the Research department.

Serves as a resource to other areas of the Bank and/or Federal Reserve System.

Essential Accountabilities


* Conducts higher level economic and financial research (compared with less senior positions) for the purpose of maintaining and building a base of knowledge and expertise.


* Maintains a high-profile research agenda on issues relevant to the Federal Reserve and publishes regularly in leading journals as an internationally recognized leader in his/her research field.


* Presents research at internal and high-profile external venues.


* Keeps informed of current economic and financial issues.


* Advises on current economic, financial, and long-term policy-relevant topics through high-level written and oral communications and technical expertise.


* Responds to economic policy questions by writing articles and giving speeches.


* Provides guidance and mentoring to junior staff.


* Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education and Experience


* Doctorate in economics or finance


* 7 years of related work experience
