Quality Control Technician - Construction

Knik Construction is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Technician to support construction projects at multiple remote locations throughout Alaska.

This role performs Contractors Quality Control (CQC) duties under the direction of a QC Manager or Lead QC Technician and works closely with project superintendents.

This is a seasonal position that requires travel and on‑site living at remote job locations.

Davis‑Bacon wages apply where applicable.

Key Responsibilities


* Perform Contractors Quality Control (CQC) duties in accordance with approved Quality Control Plans.


* Conduct QC sampling, testing, observation, documentation, and reporting.
Perform aggregate testing including sieve analysis, fracture count, and flat & elongated testing.


* Perform hot mix asphalt (HMA) sampling and testing including asphalt content, gradation, density, and coring.


* Interpret QC and QA test results for compliance with project specifications.


* Communicate QC results verbally, in writing, and digitally.


* Prepare and submit QC reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Stonemont software.


* Safely operate portable nuclear density gauges.


* Maintain a clean, organized laboratory and assigned vehicle.


* Obtain required training and certifications as assigned.


* Maintain positive working relationships with employees, subcontractors, clients, and the public.


* Lift, carry, and handle materials, tools, and samples.


* Must be at least 18 years of age.


* Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen
 

Qualifications:


* High school diploma or GED required.


* No experience required; 1+ year of construction‑related experience preferred.


* Ability to obtain:
+ WAQTC and ACI certifications
+ Nuclear gauge safety and HAZMAT certifications
+ MSHA and OSHA training certifications
