Job Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Training and Exercise, collaborates with all relevant Cook County agencies to determine the training needs and priorities of those supported by the Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS) through its training initiatives - focusing specifically on National Incident Management System (NIMS).

May supervise; coordinate; plan and assist large-scale training exercises involving multiple jurisdictions and locations.

Coordinates and collaborates internal and external departmental training personnel to include working with other staff, both internal and external to the Department.

Assists in the, coordination, planning and oversight of the development and execution of a long-range; multi-year; multi-agency multi-jurisdictional training and exercise program.

Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management

OR

• Current/ or prior military duty in a related Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

OR

• Five (5) years of full-time work experience in Emergency Management, Sworn Fire Service, Sworn Law Enforcement or Emergency Medical Services is required.

PLUS

• Two (2) years of full-time work experience instructing, training and/or coordinating training programs in Emergency Management; the Fire Service; Law Enforcement; Emergency Medical Services or in the military in a related MOS is required.

• Must meet all training requirements as required by the EMRS, Cook County and Granting Agencies within one year of hire is required.

*Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements and processes for federally funded grant training.

•Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office application programs including Word, Excel, Pivot Tables, PowerPoint, Outlook e-mail and calendar scheduling software.
