Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the CT Supervisor, and following established policies and procedures, operates a CT (computed tomography) scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in diagnoses and treatment of pathologies.

The technologist provides technical and ancillary support to the department mission through demonstrated clinical and academic competency in CT.

Clinical and academic competency is defined as completing training and meeting all clinical responsibilities to all areas assigned, ability to work unsupervised in the clinical setting, willingness to rotate to all areas as the need arises, and holding appropriate licensure and advanced certification, as required by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), the ACR (American College of Radiology)and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:


* Operates a CT (computed tomography) scanner to perform technologist duties as required and necessary for proper departmental workflow. 


* Performs appropriate studies as determined through policy and procedure.  Follows requisition in terms of providing proper study for patients.  Ensures that exams requested match patient condition and/or history and calls or asks the appropriate persons for more information as necessary to perform the proper study.


* Prepares patient for exams as required and always ensures patient comfort and modesty.

Accommodates patient needs and staffing needs through flexibility in scheduling and timeliness of studies.


* Set up equipment as necessary and use proper imaging techniques.  Adjusts imaging factors when necessary to improve study or quality factors.

Works through radiologist’s requirements to provide appropriate images and provides additional views and variations of techniques as requested.
