Why This Role Matters
The On-Call Transportation Accessibility Specialist (will be called an On- Call Mobility Assessment Evaluator or MAE per the contract), will help ensure individuals with disabilities and older adults receive fair, accurate, and timely ADA paratransit eligibility determinations, while also supporting independence and appropriate use of fixed-route public transportation whenever possible.
This role is intentionally designed to attract professionals from clinical disciplines and social-services or human-services backgrounds.

This position is located at WMATA Transit Accessibility Center at 300 7th St SW Washington, DC 20024.

What you’ll do:
* Assess & Determine Transportation Access
+ Conduct in-person interviews and functional assessments with applicants
+ Review ADA paratransit applications, intake forms, and professional verification materials
+ Determine required functional assessments and evaluate results
+ Apply observations and assessment findings to ADA eligibility determinations
+ Assess applicants’ ability to independently use fixed-route public transportation
+ Make final eligibility determinations in compliance with ADA regulations and contract standards
* Conduct Functional Assessments
+ Assessments may include:
o Outdoor and indoor physical functional assessments
o Cognitive and observational assessments (e.g., FACTS, MMSE)
o Standardized tools administered according to established protocols
* Document, Communicate & Defend Decisions
