Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic team at Willowbrook Post Acute.
In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality patient care in an inpatient setting.
Your primary focus will be to assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals and improv ing their daily living activities.
Skills & Responsibilities
• Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board.
• Treat patients per the physician treatment plan.
• Assist nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
• Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problem and plans.
• Participate in in-services training program for other staff in the facility.
• Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, per OccupationalTherapy Board State Practice Act and governmental and third-party payer requirements.
• Record treatment changes per policy and procedures.
• Instruct patient's families or nursing staff in maintenance program and caregiver training in preparation for dischargefrom therapy services.
Participate in discharge planning.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area.
• Report any problems with department equipment so that it is maintained in good working order.
• Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff and professional colleagues.
