Intern - electromechanical/electrical engineering
Our team is recruiting for an intern in electromechanical, electrical, industrial electronics or electrical engineering.
In this role, you will perform tasks associated with the installation, testing, diagnostics, repair, upgrade, and maintenance of electrical distribution equipment while keeping quality, health, and safety a priority.
Internship duration: 4 - 8 months
What will you do?
* Perform on-site preliminary studies, installation, testing and commissioning, repairs, preventive maintenance, and field modification (upgrades) of company-manufactured equipment, as well as equipment manufactured by third parties, as assigned.
Including, but not limited to:
+ Modernization of low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers
+ Low and medium voltage testing and commissioning
+ Transformer testing
+ Bus duct installation and repair
+ Switchboard installation, maintenance, and repair
* Ensure safety first approach.
* Communicate daily with team leaders and coordinators to ensure work is completed.
* Execute work orders assigned at or above expected results.
* Provide service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
* Follow and adhere to all Schneider Electric safety, operational and HR policies.
* Follow and adhere to all Schneider Electric safety, operational and HR policies.
* Responsible for the accuracy and discipline of timely completion of customer reports, timesheets, expenses, and work order updates.
* Responsible for customer satisfaction
* Able and willing to travel to customer sites.
* Ability to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays.
What qualifications will make you successful?
* Education: Currently pursuing a DEC in electromechanics, electricity or industrial electronics/ B.Sc.
in electrical engineering
* Knowledge of electromechanical equipment or other electronic devices a strong asset.
* Experience working on utilities, mining, oil and gas sites is an asset.
* Experience in seeking new business and developing new commercial relationships with customers is a must.
* In-depth knowledge of the electrical field services industry
* Knowledge of North American standards applicable to LV & MV equipment
* Analytical and troubleshooting skills are a must.
* May be called upon to perform the following tasks, but not limited to: repetitive lifting/carrying; pushing/pulling; standing; climbing; squatting; bending; kneeling; or traveling long distances.
* Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
* Frequent travel to customer sites required.
* Functional knowledge of French and English to facilitate collaboration with our teams, clients and stakeholders at the provincial and international levels
