Technician-Truck Engine

About the Position:

Do you like to solve technical problems? Are you effective at troubleshooting? If so, we have a challenging opportunity as a Truck/EPG Technician in our Truck Service Shop at our Billings, MT (Southgate) location. 

Hourly Range: $29.95-45.00 per hour (based on skills & experience)

Essential Duties:

The Truck/EPG Technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar truck engines, industrial engines and generator rebuilds at our Billings (Southgate) location. 


* Industrial Engine experience.


* Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, powertrains and electrical and systems.


* Experience with CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging and blocking equipment is essential.


* Ability to work on multiple projects as assigned, this position will require planning and organizing skills with a particular emphasis on controlling job costs.


* Investigate, analyze and identify the problem in order to make recommendations that eliminates issues.


* Able to work with a variety of people, from internal employees to customers, communication and strong interpersonal skills is essential.


* Effective writing skills are necessary.


* Ability to utilize internal software and other software programs.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


* A graduate of a 2-4 year vocational technical school training institution or equivalent experience is required. 


* A valid driver's license will be required. 


* Electrical Troubleshooting ability


* Ability to operate a forklift and other equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, hoists, cranes, pressure washers in a safe manner. 


* Good mechanical aptitude. 


* You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook). 


* This role requires the ability to stand up to eight hours per day and includes twisting, bending, squatting, sitting stooping and kneeling. 


* Experience working at a Caterpillar (CAT) dealership or with CAT products is ideal.
