Job Title: Dietary Aide - Part-Time
Facility: Oakwood Gardens Care Center
Employment Type: Part-Time
Salary Range: $17.48 - $17.50 per hour (BOE)
General Purpose
The Dietary Aide assists the Dietary Department in providing quality food service to residents.
Assignments are determined by the needs of the shift and department activity.
This position reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and supports safe, sanitary, and efficient meal service operations.
Essential Duties
* Learn and follow food service routines within a short period of time
* Set up meal trays according to diet cards and instructions
* Strip and clean returned trays and begin dishwashing procedures
* Assist with serving meals to residents
* Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of each shift
* Monitor dishwasher temperatures during cycles
* Operate dishwashing equipment safely and correctly
* Prepare nourishments and snacks as assigned
* Sweep and mop kitchen and dining areas
* Remove trash and garbage according to facility procedures
* Store groceries in a safe, clean, and organized manner
* Clean work surfaces, equipment, and refrigerators
* Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen conditions at all times
* Assist the Cook or Dietary Supervisor as needed
* Participate in orientation and ongoing training programs
* Work cooperatively and professionally with staff in all departments
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred
* Prior food service experience preferred but not required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
* Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's Certificate
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to read and follow recipes and written instructions
* Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers
* Basic math skills, including fractions and measurements
* Ability to solve practical problems and follow verbal, written, or diagram instructions
Physical Demands
* Frequent standing and walking
* Occasional sitting
* Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
* Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
* Adequate vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception)
Work Environment
The work environment is generally clean, organized, and kitchen-based.
Noise levels are usually low to moderate.
