Data Engineer
Overview
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data systems that support the organization's data-driven decision-making.
This role collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to understand data requirements, define data architectures, and implement robust data pipelines that empower business intelligence, analytics, and data office initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development
* Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from a variety of internal and external sources.
* Ensure pipelines are scalable, reusable, and aligned with best practices for data engineering.
* Automate data ingestion and workflow orchestration using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
Data Quality & Reliability
* Implement rigorous data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring processes.
* Ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability of data across multiple systems and environments.
* Collaborate with business and technical teams to address data anomalies and ensure high-quality data outputs.
System Optimization & Performance
* Optimize data systems and pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
* Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, performance bottlenecks, and system failures.
* Continuously evaluate and enhance the data architecture to support evolving business requirements.
Required
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
* Atleast 3 - 5 years' of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or large-scale data system development.
* Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
* Experience with ETL tools, data orchestration platforms, and cloud services (Alteryx, AWS, Azure).
* Strong understanding of database systems, data modeling, and data architecture concepts.
Preferred
* Familiarity with data governance, and metadata management.
* Background working with BI teams, data analysts, or data engineers.
Key Competencies
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail, especially regarding data accuracy and system reliability.
* Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
