Parenting Programs In-Home Specialist
Position Summary
The Parenting Programs In-Home Specialist provides direct support and education to families participating in MHM parenting programs through in-home and group-based services.
The role uses evidence-based and evidence-informed curricula to help clients strengthen parenting skills, improve family functioning, and achieve holistic health outcomes.
Responsibilities include conducting monthly home visits, assessing client needs, providing crisis support, making referrals, coordinating events, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
The role requires strong interpersonal skills, reflective practice, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work independently in community settings.
Salary
Annual salary rate begins at $58,810.
Mid range at $74,983.
Actual starting rate will be commensurate with experience and education.
Scope and Impact
This position directly influences family stability, child development, and parent/child relationship outcomes across the MHM service area.
The role provides front-line prevention, intervention, and education services, manages a robust caseload, documents client progress, and connects families to essential resources.
Work contributes to system-level collaboration with schools, community agencies, legal systems, and healthcare organizations.
Decision-Making Authority
Operates with moderate independence to determine appropriate teaching, coaching, crisis-response approaches, referrals, and intervention methods.
Uses discretion to assess client needs, navigate complex family situations, and ensure safety.
Escalates issues involving safety risks, abuse/neglect, or legal concerns per protocol.
Interactions / Working Relationships
* Internal: Parenting Program leadership; interdisciplinary teams; wellness and community health teams; administrative staff.
* External: Families; community partners; schools; faith organizations; legal and correctional systems; social service providers; medical and behavioral health agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Plan, organize, and educate clients in home and group settings using evidence-based and evidence-informed curricula while maintaining program fidelity and quality standards.
* Conduct approximately 40 customized in-home parenting education visits per month.
* Assist clients in identifying unhealthy parenting styles, beliefs, and coping mechanisms and develop action plans to improve family outcomes.
* Use Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed care to help clients set and achieve health and parenting goals.
* Conduct initial and ongoing assessments; track client progress and maintain required records and EHR documentation.
* Provide life skills training to support client/family short- and long-term needs.
