Human Resources Intern

Amsted Rail in Granite City, Illinois is seeking a Human Resources Intern.

This role is responsible for assisting with daily HR operations and projects.

What you will do:


* Assist with recruitment activities, including posting jobs and screening resumes


* Support onboarding and orientation for new employees


* Maintain and update employee records in HR systems


* Help organize employee engagement and wellness initiatives


* Respond to basic employee inquiries regarding HR policies and benefits


* Assist with compliance documentation and reporting


* Participate in HR meetings and training sessions


* Prepare HR-related communications and materials


* Support payroll and benefits administration tasks


* Contribute to special HR projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:


* Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field


* No prior HR experience required; previous internship or office experience preferred


* Strong communication, attention to detail, organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


* Managing multiple tasks and deadlines


* Navigating complex HR regulations and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications:


* Experience with HRIS or payroll systems


* Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment


* Bilingual abilities


* Adapting to a challenging and repetitive manufacturing environment

What we offer you:


* Summer interns generally start between $20.00 - $24.00/hour


* The role is on-site 5 days a week Monday - Friday


* Starting hourly salary will vary by location, qualifications, prior experience and year you graduate
