Rehab Aide

Job Title: Rehab Aide - Full-Time

Facility: Oakwood Gardens Care Center
Salary Range: $17.48 - $18.00/hour (BOE)
General Purpose

The Rehab Aide supports the Therapy Department by assisting Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy staff in delivering high-quality rehabilitative services.

This position helps maintain an organized, safe, and efficient therapy environment while promoting positive outcomes for residents.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities


* Assist therapists with patient treatments as directed and within scope


* Transport residents to and from therapy sessions as needed


* Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and supplies before and after sessions


* Clean, disinfect, and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas


* Assist with setting up and breaking down therapy programs and activities


* Communicate resident progress, concerns, or changes to supervising therapists


* Assist with documentation support per department policy (non-clinical)


* Participate in patient care conferences and in-service training as requested


* Assist nursing staff with restorative aide training when directed


* Educate residents and families on basic therapy routines and discharge support under therapist guidance


* Report equipment issues promptly to ensure safe operation


* Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with residents, families, and staff

Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

Education & Experience


* High school diploma or equivalent required


* Previous experience in a rehabilitation, healthcare, or long-term care setting preferred


* No therapy license required

Skills & Abilities


* Strong interpersonal and communication skills


* Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team


* Basic computer skills; familiarity with Casamba or PointClickCare a plus


* Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and professionalism

Language Skills


* Ability to read and understand technical procedures and care instructions


* Ability to communicate effectively with therapists, staff, residents, and families

Mathematical Skills


* Ability to apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios

Reasoning Ability


* Ability to solve practical problems


* Ability to interpret written, oral, and diagram-based instructions

Physical Demands


* Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching


* Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly (more with assistance or equipment)


* Frequent use of hands, arms, and mobility equipment


* Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for resident care activities

Work Environment


* Skilled nursing and rehabilitation environment


* Noise level generally low to moderate
