JOB SUMMARY

Provide clinical supervision and support to staff.

Serve adults and children involved in criminal and civil cases assigned to the Cook County Public Defender.

Conduct evaluations when indicated to support sentencing litigation and prepare comprehensive reports.

Review and assign referrals to assigned staff.

Communicate with client families, caseworkers, physicians, and other professionals and parties relevant to clients.

Conduct in-house trainings to support Bureau/Department professional development initiatives.

Serve as a consultant applying forensic mental health principles/knowledge to assist attorneys and prepare comprehensive reports and forensic evaluations.

Monitor and track staff productivity and create monthly reports partnering with senior leadership on progress.

Provide guidance for others in the application of psychology and delegate work, as needed.

Consult and assist attorneys in cases requiring psychological expertise.

This position is Actively Recruited and At Will Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Forensic Psychology, Counseling, or a directly related field and

• Four (4) years of experience in clinical, behavioral health, counseling, social work, mental health services or directly related experience is required.

• Two (2) years of prior supervisory or lead experience is required.

• License to practice independently in the State of Illinois (Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) is required.

*Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States' territories and Canada must be credentialed by an approved U.S.

credential evaluation service belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).

Original credentialing documents must be presented at time of interview.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

• Knowledge of the theories and assumptions underlying the field of psychology, including knowledge of criminal justice system rules and regulations.

• Knowledge of test procedures, standard test forms, and mental measurements.

Ability to properly interpret psychological information and make sound recommendations.

• Knowledge of or ability to quickly and effectively grasp and utilize County policies, protocols, and technical vernacular used throughout each union labor agreement for the County.
