Community Initiatives Coordinator
Position Summary
The Community Initiatives Coordinator supports Methodist Healthcare Ministries' (MHM) evolving community-based initiatives, beginning with a focus on digital equity and expanding in future years to address other critical issues that impact the health and well-being of communities across the MHM service region.This position coordinates internal staff, consultants, external stakeholders, and community partners to develop and implement collaborative strategies and initiatives that align with MHM's mission of "Serving Humanity to Honor God." The Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that the voices and needs of underserved and rural populations are reflected in public policies, funding priorities, and community-based interventions.
The role also helps advance cross-sector learning, alignment, and capacity building among community and institutional partners.
Salary
Annual salary rate begins at $58,810.
Mid range at $74,983.
Actual starting rate will be commensurate with experience and education.
Scope and Impact
This position supports strategic community initiatives by coordinating multi-sector collaborations, helping align regional best practices, and supporting decisions related to learning, strategy, policy, and grant-making.
Work directly impacts external partnerships, program/initiative success, and the organization's understanding of community needs.
The role influences planning efforts across public/private partners and informs future resource allocation.
Decision-Making Authority
Operates with moderate independence within established direction and priorities.
Makes decisions regarding stakeholder engagement, meeting coordination, basic project planning, and delivery of informational content.
Provides recommendations regarding community investments, grant-making opportunities, and emerging initiative needs; decisions requiring financial or policy commitments are escalated to leadership.
Interactions / Working Relationships
* Collaborates with MHM leadership, community partners, consultants, and public/private agencies to coordinate community initiatives.
* Serves as a primary liaison between MHM and local governments, nonprofits, coalitions, and cross-sector partnerships.
* Represents MHM in coalitions, collaboratives, and regional/state-level planning efforts to advocate for community needs.
* Engages internal teams to ensure alignment between MHM's investments, advocacy priorities, and community partnerships.
* Builds and maintains strong, trust-based relationships with underserved and rural communities.
* Works collaboratively across MHM departments to promote shared learning, consistency, and mission alignment.
