950/980 Loader Operator Roseburg, OR

Position Title: 980/950 Front End Loader

Reports To: Logyard Supervisor

Department: Studmill

Hours per shift: 10 hour shifts or more, with three 10-minute breaks, and a 30 minute lunch.

Wage: Level 4

Position Purpose: Use a Caterpillar 980/950 Front End Loader to load/unload logs into the Sawmill, Clean debris from the block yard area.

Perform moderate to light maintenance of the Loader.

The Operator must be willing to be cross trained in other positions in the Logyard.

Position Functions:

Essential Functions

* These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job.

1) Keep up with the Sawmill.

The 980/950 Operator cannot allow the Sawmill to run out of

wood.

2) Daily fluid level and (preventive) maintenance check of front end loader.

3) Keeping the mill operating efficiently by feeding a steady supply of logs to Chop Saw

Operator, merchandiser transfer decks and splitter.

4) Remove logs at "kick outs".

5) Assist Shovel Operator by supplying or removing logs.

6) Yard clean-up.

Attach bucket and scoop debris to be used as hog fuel.

7) (Swing) Observation and security surveillance.

8) Routinely conduct visual maintenance inspection of Front End Loader.

9) Perform (preventive) maintenance per schedule (grease, oil, fuel).

Report any

discrepancies to supervisor.

10) Communicate clearly on radio with crew members.

Non-Essential Functions

These duties are secondary in nature and are not classified as ADA essential.

1) Dump waste boxes.

2) Clean up.

3) Keep the machine clean and blow out radiator and engine compartments

4) Operate in a confined area with high traffic.

5) Other duties as assigned.

Working Environment: (1) Inside 90%, average temperature 80 degrees, extreme low temperature 10 degrees F, extreme high temperature 120 degrees F.

(2) Outside 10%.

Noise or vibration: Machine

noise to include machine being operated as well as other machines close by including Forklifts.

(3) Atmospheric conditions: Dust: Limited, Mist: Water, Odors: Dry wood, Gasses: None, Poor Ventilation: None.

The worker in this position will be standing on a slightly elevated wooden platform with rubber mats.

The worker will move back and forth on this platform in front of an elevated dry conveyor measuring 3 ½ to 4’ above the ground.
