Sheet Metal Operator II - Sheet Metal - 3rd Shift
POSITION PURPOSE
Sheet Metal Operator II position with the primary responsibilities of operating at least two fabrication machines in the Sheet Metal Department correctly and efficiently including start up, production, and shut down.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
* Understand one of the fabrication equipment which includes the capacity and limitations as well as the preventative maintenance and minor trouble shooting of the following machines:
* Lacer
* NC
* Press Brake
* Help keep equipment in good operating condition
* Interpret work orders, blue prints, and measuring devices.
* Understand the scrap/cut plan process and follow the rules to minimize scrap losses.
* Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sheet Metal Fabricator.
* Must have good product knowledge and understand the fabrication process.
* Possess good writing and oral communication skills and the ability to work professionally with BAC customer and co-workers.
* Be able to read and understand BAC fabrication drawings.
* Must be able to read and interpret drawings and use simple math including decimals.
* Be able to use and understand the following measurement equipment: micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers, square, protractor, and micrometer.
* Ability to work well with others.
* PC knowledge which includes use of fabrication data basis.
* Good product knowledge.
* Responds to customers with an appropriate level of urgency.
* Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change.
* Understands and adheres to LEAN principles in the area.
* Familiar with all appropriate procedures, policies, and instructions of ISO for area of assignment to ensure quality.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Help train less experienced members of Sheet Metal team.
* Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
* Maintains and sustain 5’s in the department
* Knowledgeable of and meets quality standards on a consistent basis.
* Help achieve departmental safety goals.
* Meet or exceed production goals for shift.
* Perform other duties as requested, directed and assigned.

The working environment includes lifting up to 50lbs. Standing is to be expected up to 80% of the time. Additional activities include: walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed as well as hand eye coordination to perform changes. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week.
