Shift Manager - Theo & Betty's - Paine Field Airport
Position Summary
The Service Shift Manager (Supervisor) is a working leader responsible for overseeing daily shift operations at Theo & Betty’s, a quick‑service deli and retail concept located in an airport environment.
This role supports the Unit Manager by supervising associates, ensuring exceptional guest service, maintaining operational standards, and enforcing company policies as well as all airport and security requirements.
The Service Shift Manager leads by example—actively performing barista, cashier, and food preparation duties while coordinating staff coverage, addressing guest concerns, and ensuring compliance with food safety, cash handling, and security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership & Team Supervision
* Supervise and support associates during assigned shifts.
* Assign workstations, manage breaks, and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
* Monitor employee performance and provide real‑time coaching and direction.
* Enforce company policies, procedures, and standards consistently.
* Escalate performance, attendance, or conduct concerns to the Unit Manager and HR as appropriate.
Guest Service
* Lead by example in delivering prompt, friendly, and professional guest service.
* Address guest questions, concerns, or complaints and resolve issues promptly.
* Ensure a welcoming, clean, and organized service environment at all times.
Barista, Cashier & Food Service Operations
* Perform all associate‑level duties when needed, including:
+ Preparing and serving coffee and espresso beverages to standard.
+ Operating POS systems and processing transactions accurately.
+ Preparing made‑to‑order sandwiches and food items according to brand guidelines.
* Monitor product quality, presentation, and portion control.
* Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards.
Operational & Cash Accountability
* Ensure proper cash handling procedures are consistently followed throughout each shift.
* Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash counts, cleaning, and restocking.
* Prepare and facilitate daily bank deposits in accordance with company policy.
* Conduct inventory counts and partner with management to develop action plans for abnormal cost results.
* Monitor inventory levels and promptly notify management of shortages, variances, or issues.
* Ensure equipment is used properly and report maintenance or safety concerns as needed.
* Monitor revenue levels and make appropriate labor adjustments to control costs during assigned shifts.
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
* Enforce airport security requirements and access protocols.
* Maintain awareness of TSA, Port of Everett, and airport operational standards.
